By the end of 2009 Nintendo plans to provide all Wii customers with a highspeed Internet connection the ability to watch a new Wii television channel dubbed, "Wiinoma". The new channel for the Wii will provide all sorts of programming ranging from cartoons to training and workout programs and even lifestyle programming. All of the content will be produced for Nintendo exclusively and none of the content will be visible elsewhere.
With Nintendo doing so well in Japan, many Japanese TV executives are very interested in seeing how this service does. If it launches and becomes a success, it could take away a lot of viewers from traditional TV outlets. One senior executive at Fuji Television says that if the Wii channel turns out to be a hit, it will be the stuff of television producers nightmares.
The new Wii TV content could also bring in additional services such as video-on-demand which many Wii customers have been requesting. Look for the new Wii TV channel to hit your console late Q3 or Q4 of this year.
I hope it has Adult Swim on it (although the "family friendly" crap might keep that from happening). You can only see 5 King of the Hill episodes (one of my favorite shows) on Hulu.

it`s quite possible that there could be a mixture of both pay per view and non pay per view programmes.
if there is pay per view content, i hope that it would work out as one off payment like the VC/WW games.

In other words, it will be like all the commercials Nintendo produce. We all live in a perfect Nintendo world where everyone is friends and constantly pulling out their DS/Wii for any form of entertainment or basic living. Every meal will be served with the help of the countless cooking games, even cookbooks from the DS games. All photos are new again with the great invention of the DSi. It's like photos wasn't even thought of till now, thanks Nintendo for telling us of this wonderful concept of capturing the moment. Or even reinvent the past by editing photographs. Revolutionary!
Ever heard of the fancy thing call music? Well now, for the first time ever, you can listen to it on the go! Thank you DSi music player!
By watching all of our commercials, have you feel that you might not be as fit as everyone else? Don't worry, we can change your look with our training games such as Wii Fit. You will be trimming pounds shortly after you live like us, always happy. Why stop at your body, having trouble with the simplest of tasks? That's okay, but if you want to be like everyone else buy Brain Age, then at least we will make you think that you are like everyone else. Part of the norm. Part of Nintendo.
Oh just to let people know in case you dont understand.
There will be free TV programs made just for the WiiTV. Cartoons, Sitcoms and other programs all on a regullarly scheduled brodcast. (pokemon is the first thing that comes to mind. you will beable to watch every episode as it comes out along with new exclusive movies and episodes.) THESE ARE ALL FREE!!!!!
Where the Wii points will come in is for special movies (sorta like Pay per Veiw movies or movies you can download and keep.)
Oh no... movies like "Street Fighter" the Movie and the "Super Mario Brothers" movie? or the Pokemon movies? I can stand tv shows like "Super Mario Brothers Super Show," but will this WORK?
Well who knows. They might be a success and maybe even have new shows. But if it's all "Kirby Right Back At 'Cha," F-Zero the cartoon, and the Zelda Show, I think I'll miss it.
Weird... it seems to ask for your age and ~blood type~ (!!) when you add your avatar. I'd always thought it odd that the Japanese fighting games list blood types, but why would you need that in a chat room? Anyway, even if it is a hit in Japan, by the time they developed English content, the next console would be out.

Will there be movies on it? Because you didn't mention movies, Chris.
