What country do you live in, and if applicable, what state?
I live in England, in the East Midlands city of Nottingham.
We're famous for Robin Hood, world-class sporting facilities and ...rampant guncrime.
How do you choose what Miis you're going to make? Do you have a process?
I made a long list of around ten thousand potentials. I put my cat Noodle on the list, I let him walk up and down, wherever his paws are pointing, that's the mii that gets made.
The process I use is pretty regimented, I start on the left with the name, move to the right to do height and weight and so on till I get to the glasses and moustaches. Then I realise it looks nothing like the person I was trying to capture and begin a process of 'constant tinkering' until the desired look is achieved.
Which Mii do you feel is your best so far?
I like the ones no-one else seems to. It took a lot of effort to do the entire England Cricket World Cup Squad, and then they got knocked out very early on in the competition...ho hum.
My absolute favourite though is teenage sociopath 'David Platt' from British soap-opera Coronation Street. Very simple to make, but comes closest to capturing the look I wanted.
What one (and only one) Mii piece would you add to the Mii Channel if you could?
Forehead wrinkles would be nice. Also, more lips (it's unnecessarily hard to do justice to female miis at the moment.) Number one priority though has to be...ears. Bald men look odd without them.
Do you do any sort of art by trade? What other creative outlets do you pursue apart from the Mii Channel?
I do some garden photography and computer-generated art using the 'painter' software. These are made into greetings cards and framed collages and sold in local stores.
I'm also a published author here in the U.K - short stories and poetry mainly. I've also been a DJ, band promoter and managed an independent record store.
What's your favorite experience with the Wii so far?
Best experience: multiplayer golf on Wii Sports. My partner, Tara, usually wins. (She could turn pro if there was a mini-golf circuit!)
Worst experience: My Wii developed a fault and had to be replaced. I lost all my miis from parade and plaza, my friends list, and all game saves. I rebuilt the miis (using the photos I made to post here!) but some of my friends are still AWOL. Parade is gradually rebuilding, but still somewhat diminished.
What game do you feel is missing from the Wii line-up most right now, given the Wii's unique control mechanic?
I'd like Pilotwings to be given the 'waggle' treatment. It's always been my favourite Nintendo franchise.
Any additional props, plugs or comments?
Cheers to Jose, the forum mods, all my fellow mii artists and my friends list (especially Linuz, Skull Kid, Goemon3033, Lisa, Massimo, rababob, LOW, keeying and rosa71uk.) Tara, Noodle and uncle Tom Cobbley and all...and all.
Please make original miis. There are hundreds of thousands of musicians, artists, sportsmen, writers, and filmstars yet to be made. Delve a little deeper and don't be afraid to be obscure! Above all, have fun!
