2 weeks in. Let me tell you, this game.
It's pretty cool.
I beat the the story in a weeks time. I wasn't expecting much, but I got one heck of a ride. The game does well with it's variants in game play all while creating this story line that goes all over. Gods be crazy as always.
The controls can be oft for some, but I've had experience of similar games (Metriod Prime: Hunters comes to mind). And the multiplayer is a hoot too.
You know, I was excited for this game like you wouldn't believe... but now it's become a waiting game I think.
Camelot's grand return into making sport games. Looking very closely like Mario Tennis (N64) which was the best console version but it too being a handheld alone meaning the possibility of enjoying the RPG elements of the other two handheld Mario Tennis games.
But no, after playing it around at PAX and following some lite coverage on the game, I see that the power shots are in spades creating ridiculous shots across the board. Sure, Mario sport titles are know for the power shots and what have you, but what was done in the first Mario Tennis was done with class I feel. It was still in the realm of possible, not these absurd shots with curves as if you were playing in a bowl or lobs that once fall hardly have enough momentum to bounce again. Nonsense.
And there is no RPG mode. Humbug.
So yeah, I don't know if I'm going to bother.
Signed, a man that cares about it's spin-off sport games.
A list of some games recently played:
Frozen Synapse
Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP
Left 4 Dead 2
Metal Torrent (Thanks Cryo)
Space Murder
DOTA 2
Kid Icarus: Uprising
And a bunch of arcade and pinball games from the American Classic Arcade Museum at FunSpot of which I'll post pictures of here once I get around to resizing them.
I can get the rest besides the Mario Tennis one by meeting with my friends that also went to PAX and finished theirs. And while this is here the Puzzle Swap music is catchy as anything.
While Colors have been out as a shareware title on the DS years back and later released as an ios title, Colors 3D is a digital retail product on the e-shop already out in America and will see it's European release out in a weeks time.
While being simple in it's own right, in the right hands people have made some great creations. All of which can be watched be created on their own gallery.
I've been toying with it mostly, but I did create something... Mostly, I like to observe how some of them create and draw. Others you can tell that they traced, but it's all art in the end I guess. If you wouldn't mind drawing on a DS, you can't go wrong with Colors 3D.
It's funny you bring this up. I just came back from PAX and I got street passed a bunch of them. It was a feature that I thought I didn't think I'd ever see in use if it weren't for PAX.
It's made me want to jump back in. I'll share some stuff too.
Edit: also, I got your message. I just have a somewhat spotty online access and I guess can't add in friend codes while offline. (?)
Eben, you ever play Dong Dong Never Die? I think you would like it.
I got to beat Mirror's Edge for the first time recently. I've played it time and time before, but never got the chance to sit down and play the whole game. The mechanics is there, but it was tossed in a game that it get to pull of it's full potential.

It's no bug, as it doesn't bug me, but I've always been curious.
Do you always have at least one notification (the star thing on the top right), even if you have read them all? One day years ago I think I got it along with a blank message and I've always had at least one notification since.
Well, I'm not playing it anymore as I couldn't stop playing it but I know the lot of you have a DS of some-kind so let me recommend 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors.
Oh and I can't wait for the incoming sequel, Good People Die.

Sure is fun, but I've been burnt on the communities part. They had good intentions with it, but for in this case, it's only good for a large group. Like 500 large.
I never was a fan of RGPs, but I've more recently experienced a lot of rouge-likes and it seems like this is the only way for me to enjoy them. Especially ones with permadeath, a feature where when you die, it's truly game over and you must start anew.
I've been playing Dungeons of Dredmor as of late, and it's a great rouge-like.
I've beaten the main part of Super Mario Land 3D. It was pretty simple, but clever in what it had. I've heard the post-game material is when the true challenge begins and I'll get to that later.
Also still playing Mario Kart 7. I just need to 3 star seven more GPs till I am a 3 star racer.
Other titles: Kirby Mass Attack, Professor Layton and the Last Specter, Atom Zombie Smasher, Binding of Isaac
I should have my computer up and running at the latest Tuesday. Then I can properly lurk around here, til February 1st. I'll be in basic training then. Yep, I'll be an Information Technology Specialist in the guard, unless I change it later, but IT is awesome so I don't think so.
Eh, with WiiWare, you could gift the games. I think there was going to be smaller cards, but I never did see it in the wild.
I know you could buy a 10 dollar amount, on the Wii Shop itself, don't think you can gift that though.

As with any Nintendo console so far since the series initial debut, there has been a Mario Kart on it.
So enters Mario Mart 7 on the 3DS. It came out over the weekend for all regions and what a Mario Kart it is.
Anyone else here picked it up yet? (I know that one has) We could set up a community and get together sometimes.
It's nice. It does add a better sense of depth when done right.
But I haven't really experienced a point where I'd fully want it in nothing but 3D. While this of stereoscopic 3D has been overall impressive, I think there needs to be more for it to be the 'next step' in visual entertainment.
I picked this up on a odd whim, and glad that I did. It's a rather goofy, simple platformer, in which you are given rather simple tasks in this land as you collect coins and eggs. But the beef of the game here is the editor itself. You are given a bucket load of different shapes, limbs, facial parts and other miscellaneous objects to use and create 'formees'. You can rotate, shrink, grow, flip, and lengthen nearly all the shapes to create whatever you feel like and have your new creation bounce around on your ever so changing world, which you can edit as well.
And the editor is made with ease, as it was made to be that way. It's not imitating one bit, but yet robust to create some fascinating characters.
The game allows Streetpass and QR codes to exchange your creations with others, so you can get to play with things other people made. But I wouldn't recommend it if you only plan on doing so, as seeing your creations come alive is something special (it works almost like the Mii editor, so it's not that oft putting I hope for the lot of you).
here is some ones I've made, with QR code to download with.

This and Demon Souls are among the top of the list of getting a PS3, which is looking like a possibility soon if everything here goes all according to keikaku.
How you liking Frozen Synapse? I think it one of the better titles of the year so far.
As long as the developers support it regularly unlike before (There was a message stating an update will be coming soon, took close to 2 months. And on top of it, the update was a mess) I could see this being a great competitive game, more so than it is already.
I recommend this 'bundle'. If you pay for the above average and get the others, Trine is pretty cool I guess.
Try the demo if you are on the fence, or just pay a little. Heck, even if you end up don't liking the game the soundtrack is amazing, which comes with the package.
I think out in Japan there was 'celebrity' Miis added to Wii consoles to the plaza over time, each sporting some Golden Pants. They seems to have done this as well with the 3DS, but using QR codes. Also like before, region locking them...
But somehow, one (at least from my sudden knowledge on it) has allowed other regions to scan out one.
It's Jill Valentine, from the Resident Evil series.
Any others out there I'm not aware off? It would be nice if other regions did the same.
