I wasn't planning on uploading any newer miis until I've organized the old ones - but the topical nature of this group meant that I wanted to post it as soon as possible. This actually isn't the first group of real people miis I've made - I've tried making a few over the last year or so, but I'm not sure I've finished them enough to post them here yet. I'm not planning on making many (I still see myself mainly as a canvas and cartoon mii artist), but I felt like challenging myself and trying something new. I wouldn't have known where to start without having been inspired and informed by the amazing work of the site's more experienced artists though, so credit goes to them for these miis and any that I post in the future. Which reminds me - celery also has a David Cameron mii (which I found with the "Call Friends" search on the CMO channel. Interestingly, Poor Nick Clegg has no "friends" there yet...). It's brilliant, so I can't wait to see it here. I think Eben's Gordon Brown mii is great too - look it up if you haven't seen it yet.

The Red Queen mii is so accurate that I felt I had to vote for it. It was pretty close between that, Viewtiful Joe and the Cat of Prey though. I reckon T&A will do well next week too - that Cheshire Cat mii is brilliant...

I was hoping you'd make him after seeing your Red Queen (even though I didn't like the film itself much) - it turned out great. 5 stars!

I'm a massive fan of these books, so I've actually made most of the characters as non-canvas miis too. I finished them well over a year ago, but there are so many that I haven't finished photographing and grouping them yet!

Lady Gaga got my vote as well - a really funny and creative mii. It was close between that and the snowman though.

He actually lives just a few miles down the road from me, so I've seen him doing his grocery shopping in my village on several occasions. He looks very much like this so the mii easily gets five stars from me.

I haven't seen most of the films on that list yet, but Coraline, Moon and Slumdog Millionaire (which came out 2009 in the UK) were probably my favourite films from last year. I thought Up, In the Loop and Let the Right One In were good too though, and Doctor Parnassus and Looking for Eric were enjoyable if flawed. Anyway, I voted for Up since I preferred it to Fantastic Mr. Fox - the only other film on the list I've seen.

Just wanted to say that, since I'm in the middle of finishing, sorting and photographing many of my existing miis, I don't think I'll be able to make a Kipper mii any time soon. Also, I'm not that familiar with the character so it might be nicer for it to be made by someone with more memories of him. Maybe $00pah could try making one instead as he suggested it and he seems skilled at making cartoon animal miis.

This used to be my favourite film when I was small. There's supposed to be a new adaptation coming out soon - hopefully it'll be more faithful to the book than the first one...

Yeah - I used the dotted nose to make Sam's eyes, that's why they had to be so close together.

Congrats RSF! Also, thanks to celery (and the Baby Jebus) for such a great contest.

If you need another entrant still - I can enter these two miis. I can't upload anything new at the moment as my computer isn't working, so I'll have to use old miis.

Just ignore this submission if it's easier to use only the four current entries though.

Just wanted to say that it was great to finally see an original mii in the British Top 50 earlier - celery's Simon Cowell was 46th this morning! So congrats to celery, and I hope it stays popular. Maybe the current contest theme has helped it?

Also wanted to say that I may not post any miis on the CMOC for a while because the thing went crazy on me this morning, saying that it was corrupted and had to erase all my save data. So, I can't touch my original account and have to start a new one. Thankfully, most of my miis are saved in my parade - but it's still really annoying! Didn't something like this happen to celery too? Maybe there's a curse on original British artisans! Anyway, I haven't yet decided if I want to repost everything, start again from scratch or just not bother with it at all. I like being able to share miis so easily on the CMOC, but it's so flawed that it's tempting to just give up on it...

Good luck to everyone in the contest! I really wish I had time to make some miis for it, but I'll just have to enjoy seeing what the rest of you come up with instead - the Week One submission thread is looking great already.

Hi everyone! I've been fairly busy for the last few months, but I should be able to find time to post miis again soon. I've just been frantically catching up with voting in the mii section of the site - so I haven't had time to post any new miis today.

Just after finishing this mii, I found a really similar one of a chick on the CMO Channel. I nearly didn't post mine there because of the similarity, but it isn't quite the same and is obviously not supposed to be Orville since the artist is Japanese. It's by the artist who made (or possibly copied, there's no way of knowing for sure) the kissing penguin mii (do a worldwide search under "male" and "art" and you should find it). I'll try and find the number at some point. I didn't copy the idea, but it feels right to give the artist a mention anyway.

I see it clearly now (so 5 stars), but it did take me a while to figure out the mouth.

Looks a lot more circusy now. I think there may be a slightly better way of doing it, using large square specs as the outline of the walls and vertical stripes, but it's hard to describe. Anyway, this looks better than before so 5 stars.

I like it too (I'll vote in a minute if I haven't already). The problem with mine is that it's hard to show the front view of a horse - the legs look strange and the face looks kind of rat-like at the moment!

I actually hated the Slitheen episodes too. I made the mii mainly because I'd been looking for a use for the puffy cheeks effect for a while and the slitheen idea just randomly popped into my head one day. I could just as easily have made a hamster instead.

It is a good windmill, so I'm not even going to try to beat it!

I've struggled with loads of miis. I wanted to make horse and pig canvas miis to complete my set of animals, but I'm not happy with them yet. I think the main problem is getting them to match the style of the others (kind of cartoonish and viewed from the front). The half-finished horse is on the CMOC, but I'm too embarrassed by the pig to post it yet!

Other tricky miis I'm still working on include a clanger mii (a pink alien thingy from classic kids' TV) which I've become extra determined to finish because the creator of "The Clangers" died recently and I thought I could post it as a kind of tribute. I'm also trying to make de Blob as I love that game. I seem to be posting new versions of those two miis on the CMOC almost every week. I save them there so that I can download them back again if I'm unhappy with any later adjustments.

I'm probably sometimes a little too ambitious with subjects for my miis, but it's really satisfying to make difficult miis work so I'm going to keep trying anyway.

I'm not normally confused by how well my miis do in different places, because I can usually guess the reasons for differences in success. My canvas miis often do best here, partly because I can post close-up pictures of them that show-off the details properly (my skeleton and pea***** miis don't look great on the CMOC because they are just too small), and partly because many people looking at them are original mii artists themselves and appreciate the work that's gone into them.

My miis of well-known characters often do better on the CMOC because I reckon people visit it to find miis they'd like to use in games, and it makes more sense to play as a character rather than someone with a tiny picture on their face!

However, I think that luck also plays a big part in how well miis do on the CMOC. My Kermit mii had no votes for months and I was about to swap it for something else (I didn't want my number of miis to go over fifty at the time, so I used to remove anything that wasn't popular. I gave up caring about that a while ago now.). Anyway, it suddenly got to five stars the next day and became my most popular mii. If no-one votes for or downloads a mii there, then it never gets to the Top Mii pages and hardly anyone will see it. I think that just one vote is often enough to improve popularity, since I've voted for miis there that I think deserve more recognition and they can then go from zero to five stars in less than two days.

I haven't checked my ratings on miicharacters yet, but I know that a lot of people have copied from there (I usually take it as a compliment too!). I'm pretty sure that it's miicharacters that many copyists favour because my first Daffy Duck mii, which isn't here yet and had a pretty low rating on the CMOC, suddenly got a load of similar looking "friends" made by Americans (I'm in the British region). I had no idea why until I checked out miicharacters and saw it there. I don't mind though, it's nice to know that people like it as I was never entirely happy with it myself.

I promise that this is the original version of this mii, it's been on the CMOC for ages but I've only just got round to posting it here.

I think it still has potential a circus tent - you could try adding some colour to it with the glasses, eyebrows, moustache and mouth. It would look a lot better if it was red and white rather than black and white.

^^ I guess it must be a British thing then! Christmas pudding is a sort of steamed pudding made with fruit, nuts and lots of alcohol and traditionally cooked with a sixpence or 50p coin inside. It's normally set alight on Christmas day and then served with custard when the flame's gone out. It's often decorated with a sprig of holly, which I tried to show on my mii. Hope that helps!

I was going to stay as D. MaReindeer until I saw that someone else had already done something similar. The Nightmare Before Christmas is probably my favourite Christmas film so I thought I'd reference that instead. I watched it again yesterday and still have one of the songs stuck in my head!

Congratulations to all the other people that got profiles - I voted for all of you a month or two ago when I noticed you didn't have them. Thanks to everyone that voted for me to get one too and for all the supportive comments that so many of you have posted since I joined here. Sorry I'm being so slow at getting my miis posted!
