Great concept! I love how you had power ups that were more like digging tools than anything else. It would be great to see you expand on that. I was thinking that you could have underground rock mazes in which power ups help you make your way through shortcuts. (5*s)

This site always formats my URLs wrong... anyway, just click "More by this Artist" by the thumbnail of the level. Then find a Yoshi to use (They should all be next to this level).

In the middle of Summer, a pack of Yoshis see a cave high on a
mountaintop. Yoshis are naturally curious, so they want to check it
out. Each grabs his own set of wings because it would be too hard to
get to on foot. They fly up to the cave and immediately see how
dangerous it looks. Blue and Red Yoshi each eat some fruit so they can
spit the juice out at anything that approaches. In an obvious attempt
to show off, Yellow and Green Yoshi go in with only their tongues to
aid them.
Enemies soon surround them, but the Yoshis want to see
what is lurking deeper within the cave, so they continue into the
twists and turns of the tunnels without looking back.---
Aug. 8 sounds good! Also, maybe giving 1 week for the shape and 2 for the level might be good. We may want to extend the shape date if we don't get enough entries though.
I think we should be able to submit as many shapes as we want, but only be able to use those entered in the contest for the level building part. (That way everyone is using the same assets.)
Should the winners be decided by judges, or a vote? Judges probably shouldn't be able to win if we do it that way.
Hmmm... I just had an idea. We could have a contest for who can make the best shape that applies to the theme (again, let's say trees) and after X people have entered, we pick a winner. Then we have a contest to see who can make the best level out of those shapes. Of course, in order to make an interesting level, we would have to have a broader theme than trees. 'Things in a forest' would allow animals, rocks, etc. to vary the level up a bit.
If we do have a contest like that, I could participate a little later in the month.
We could just give a theme (say, trees) and you can make and upload anything that relates to a tree.
Some things that could work for a tree contest:
A shape that looks like a tree
A bullet pattern that looks like a tree
A ship/enemy that has a trunk and a bullet pattern that looks like branches
A forest themed level
I don't exactly know how we could judge such different things, but it would be really cool to get something like that going! (Even better if we got some prizes involved!)
Did you try Firefox 1, 2, or 3? My desktop can handle any of them, but my laptop (Windows 2000, 196 MB RAM) can only run Firefox 3 at reasonable speeds. Mozila worked very hard to make Firefox 3 as fast as possible, so it is surprisingly faster than 2 (I never tried 1).
Esai, I tried your level and I loved the theme. Everything fits very well together. However, it doesn't play as well as it could. When the level begins to scoll to the left, your "Enemy 85" followed and I was unable to kill it because my ship was facing the other way.
Also, I suggest you turn the "sticky" off on most of the enemies because the player's weapon is so short. I found that my weapon wouldn't fire past all the enemies I had attached to my ship.

Thanks! I modeled after many of the older shmups that are like that. Before this project, I had literally no concept of level design so I actually had to study up on level design!
I think that if you go into your blastworks page (found by clicking [more by this artist] on the page for anything you have uploaded), you can see the links immediately. I could be wrong, but it seems like they don't need to be approved to get there.

I don't think so - not without erasing your Blast Works save file anyway. (Though I don't know if that would work either.) Can you tell me the exact name of the thing you want? I can upload it for you.

256 blocks is also the limit for shapes. Enemies can have multiple shapes though.

They're numbers 3223, 3224, 3225, and 3226, so you can get to them by entering those in where you see 3227 in the URL at the top of the screen.
