In response to Level 1-2 on
June 30, 2008 at 8:10pm
Level 1-2 takes place above and dangerously close to the Central City skyline. With the CCPD on his trail, SuperPhillip flies closer to the ground in an attempt to shake them, flying over the rooftops as well as through the construction site of a bridge! Can SuperPhillip lose the police force who has for some reason suddenly started pursuing him?
Note: This level is to played after Level 1-1 for continuity purposes.
Many times I've typed something up in the post box in paragraph form, but when I post it, it shows up as one long, mashed up block of text. How do I remedy this?
Regardless, I have another question. My boss in the second level shows up to the far right of the screen, barely showing itself to the player. How can I fix this?
Is there a way to make it so when you defeat one part of an enemy, the entire enemy is destroyed? Also, how do you make layered bosses? I don't think any of the tutorials cover that.

This is the first level of SuperPhillip. The only thing missing is my SuperPhillip sprite for the player's ship. If someone could help me make it, they'd be perfect.
Levels 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3 will all be in a city or suburban type setting. Worlds 2 and on will feature different ambiance.
For Level 1-1, SuperPhillip is ambushed by the folks who are usually on his side, the Central City Police Department (CCPD). What is the cause of this attack? Whatever it is, SuperPhillip will have to survive the onslaught.
It's based in a city. All I need is to make a SuperPhillip sprite for the player's ship. SuperPhillip is a hero of Central City, but for some reason the CCPD (Central City Police Department)is after him in the first level. What is the cause of this? I'm making each "world" have two or three parts (i.e. 1-1, 1-2, 1-3) with the same setting. All I did for the enemies was recolor them to match the CCPD colors. The boss is a creation of my own. I hope you enjoy my first level as much as I had making it.
In response to Freeze up on

I haven't had it freeze since I got the game last week, but today it froze four times. Each time was when I went to edit something that I had copied from the campaign.
I have some more questions that I encountered when I made more of my first level:
1) When I'm making a level that scrolls left to right and switch to
scroll upwards, any enemies that are on the path upwards don't show up
at all. What's the problem?
2) Can you change the color of the sky above the normal horizon? I don't want it to turn into black space.
3) How do I make a boss in the level? If the player defeats it, can the level end?
Yeah, this is a good idea. I'm behind it. It didn't hurt to give some activity and topics to the new board though.
Anyway, this has to do with groups.
If I want to make a multi-tiered boss, should the first group I make be the part of the boss that flies off first, and the last being the main body of the boss?
Thanks very much for fixing that. I'm not computer-proficient... yet. heh
And thanks for saying it's detailed. I made it myself. :) Maybe if it was made into an 8-bit sprite instead of a 16-bit? Or perhaps create it somewhere down the middle. Would that be feasible?
I managed to make some of the scenery come really close to the screen.
The thing is that I've forgotten how to do it. I press up or right on
the Wii remote, and the building only comes so close to the screen (not
as close as I would like). Also, how do you change it so you can look at an object an edit it from an angle?
Such detail! I think I'll use this in one of my levels! Great job!
Okey dokey. Whenever you have the time, let me know what you fellows think. :)

That's good to know for future levels.
Did you or igetgames get a chance to try 1-2 out yet?I imagine you're incredibly busy.
All I did was use a movement pattern where the enemy moves to the left for a little bit and then stops. Try that.
I think this one outdoes level one which is good since levels in most memorable games get progressively better and more fantastic.
Here's hoping 1-3 outdoes both of 'em! :)
EDIT: Also, how does BlastWorksDepot determine what the screenshot for your level will be? I'd like to choose better level screenshots. :)
No need to apologize.

I downloaded it. Will try out tomorrow.Looks interesting.
No, I don't want you to make it.My sprite is going to be bigger than 16x16. Is this okay?
I can't seem to do what I want.Could you help make it for me? :(
Thanks for the vid. It's helped immensely.I look forward to one on multiple tiered bosses.
Also, I left you a message on YouTube. :)
Here is a boss I'm going to need for either the second of third level:
Could someone try this as well, please?

No, that didn't work, but I appreciate the help regardless.
Someone on GameFAQs (I think a developer) mentioned setting a downward movement pattern, but I don't see any or know what that means. Silly me.

Okay. Sounds complicated. :X

That's very well done. Good work.I'm wanting to do original pixel art. Have any pointers?

I saw a billboard that is angled as in its face points southeast instead of just south or east. How was this done?
EDIT: Every time I post the link it shows up as the picture.

How long did this take you? Very good work!
Could someone make a ship based on this sprite? I'd prefer pixel art if possible.
