how much longer is the contest going for? i have to send my wii in for repairs... *holds up fingers* THIS close to being done with it! i made everything needed in my map, but i didnt put it together yet... stupid glitchy wii; thisll be my 3rd time sending it in...

you could mention that you can turn off the outlines to make the shapes look less strange when stretching out blocks.

yes, set whatever part of your u want to be the trigger to another group (ie the body is in group 1 the head in group 2) go to the setting menu on the layout screen and flip the switch that says destory with previous groups. when group 2 is destroyed, all of group one will go with it.

layered bosses can get pretty detailed. make your boss in the shapes menu first then bring it to the enemy editor. duplicate it and seperate the peices you want to blow at seperate times into different parts and groups. its kind of hard to tell u without showin u so id suggest u download "mecha 1" by Leopold. its seperated into 10 differnt groups and has several triggers and what not. up open it up in the editor and see what he did.

i would think itd be possible to do this as pixel art, but youve gotta put the picture into a grid first. i know i wouldnt be able to make somthing like that w/o it.

yes its worth buying. it can get insanely hard at times when theres a lot of bullets on screen. you can set the difficulty to rookie (easy) pilot (medium) and ace (hard) in the game. the level editor is pretty easy to use once you figure out the fundamentals. if youre not sure if you want to buy it, give it a rent and scope it out.

mine froze again just now. i was making an object in the enemy editor, saved the file, and tried to exit. when i pushed the exit button, it froze. i had it recorded if needed.

Hey there! I just wanted to take the time to help the Blast Works community out by creating a little "How-To" segment on Youtube. yeah mine froze too. i have some bullet patterns and the window copied from various campaigns. i was bringing in a building shape into the 3rd group and it froze.

i figured this stuff out a while back but thanks for the help! i posted this in the help menu of the site when the blast works forum wouldnt work.

the only time ive had any other game freeze on me was when my wiis drive was messed up. this time, i do have a problem with wiiconnect24, but i dont think it would cause the game to freeze when im not even attempting to use the feature. the really weird thing is, even though i have the problem, i can still send and download content from here. i cant send/recieve maps in brawl, i cant send/recieve messages in my address book either.

i dont think wiiconnect24 is the problem though. maybe theres a few bad eggs or something. my wii came back from repairs in jan/feb, so my lens should be clean. if it werent, brawl wouldnt run.

1 - im not sure, havent made a level yet other than to test objects. id say try placing them as if the level wasnt going to change directions.

2 - another one im not too sure on. i dont think u will though. id say try starting the level from underground and rising to the surface. you can change the grounds color to imitate a sky if youd like.

3 - make a boss in the editor and place it in the map. if you want the map to end after its been killed, put the end  bracket (from the triggers menu) behind it.

1. if u ever want to reference the enemy or any part of it, u cant. make the main part of the enemy in the 'shapes' editor.


2.once u make it, creat a new enemy. bring the shape out from your library and duplicate it. this will save you a TON of hassle trying to realign youre enemy's seperate parts.


3. edit out parts u dont need from each part and group.


4, the first part should be either the flying parts an object that will initiate the flying parts once destroyed. referencing the first level of the main game, the final boss are 2 planes stuck together by a central group which has several parts. once its destroyed, the planes fly off. play through that level to check it out.


5. the last piece should be the hardest piece. you can make it so onces its destroyed, the rest of the groups will destroy with it. however, if you want to make it so if the planes will be destroyed the rest dies with it, you should make them last


im makin some videos right now on how to make complex parts such as enemies and buildings that with break into a bunch of pieces instead of just falling, end bosses, and the like. ill have it up in a few days.

i was editing a bullet patern, tried to delete the top step, and it froze. thats the only time i remember what i was doing. the other times were probably just during editing.

nothing unique on my end; standard controllers, no mod chips, 3.2 update (3.3 came yestterday), no add ons, no crazy setting. i did turn the music off in game cause i couldnt hear the effects with it playing.

go into the bullet editor and the shapes you can choose from are there. you can set a variety of animations to bullets here as well. check out some of the patterns packaged in to get an idea of what can be done.

yeah mine did it to me three times as well in the editor on the first day. ive been saving frequently and it hasnt happen since. i noticed that in 2 of the 3 times it froze, shapes' little white boxes i had highlighted would stay on the screen.

i havent found a way yet to angle objects. what u might have seen was an object built in the front view or back view. the level editor has depth so when the object is placed in the map, objects will stretch towards the horizon. try making a shape of a large rectangle in front view. create a stage and add it to the scenery. push back towards the horizon or closer to the screen with the plus and minus buttons and see if its the same.

you can bring the scenery closer or further by first putting the piece into the stage and pressing plus or minus. you can acomplish the same task while editing the object. by going into the 'front side' view while editing the shape, select select the entire item by pressing a out side the object and dragging the box over the item. next drag the selected item to the right side of the screen. if you pull the item all the way up to the side, itll be massive. i havent tested this, but i assume you can make foreground objects like this.


to change the view, press the 1 button on the wiimote or go into the view tab at the bottom right of the screen (should say view or "x" side)  and selecting the view from there. remember, the right side is gonig to be the side youll see during play. since theres no way to rotate items in case you make it on the wrong side, its importatn to make everything in this view.

'no movement' is for stuff u dont want to move. im not trying to be
sarcastic, but its for stuff like boats or ground turrets and the like. remember;
youre ship is moving at all times. the only way for a boss to work with no
movement selected is if you reach the end of the map (not the one you set up but
the end of the actual field). select a movement that will keep it continuously
moving like hover or figure 8. bear in mind that movements that leave their box
in the editor will leave the stage without being destroyed. applying  'ground1' to your shape wont make it leave the screen
but 'ground2' will. 'bob boat01' and '05' will make the enemy leave the screen,
but '02' '03' and '04' wont.

first, just start a new level. creat a start point, scroll speed and
direction, camera distance, and music right off the bat.  scroll to the right (i
assume this is the way u want to go) a little bit; enough to set a boss (one
with the appropriate movements) up would be fine. now set the end of the level
behind it. preview it then and see how it works out.

also, applying how you would like youre entire group to move is done in
the 'movement' tab, each part of the group can have its own movement by applying one in the 'parts' tab. remember though; if you select a movement for either one
of those that goes out of its box, it will leave the screen.

you can make several groups to a boss as well. if youve played through the
first mission of the packed in game, ull see seperate groups. the first group it
whats holding the two planes in the second group together. group twos
movement is set to go off after the first group is destroyed. both planes (i
think) are two seperate parts to group two. the settings are probably set to
'activate after preceding groups' 'make each part function seperately', and
'destroy this group individually'.

the setting switches show one thing but do another. if you want
group 1 to be destroyed when group 2 is ko'ed, then set 2's 'group destroy
setting' to 'destroy with preceding groups' (which the switch will be turned
upward but it will say 'destroy group individually'). you can tinker with this
on the packed in enemy 'yuri'. usually, destroying his main body will kill the
feet but if u switch this setting off, the legs will remain. i dont think u can
get group 2 to be destroyed if group 1 is; i think its based on certain levels.
killing of group 1 only affects group 1. killing group 2 will affect itself and
group 1. killing group 3 with affect itself and groups 1 and 2... etc etc.

bigg, im not sure. mines fixed cause my code was wrong. do u have wiiconnect24 on?  if u do, see if u can add a FC in your wiis address book. u dont need a code, just see if u can enter one. also try to send a mesaage from your wii to a friend uve already registered. also check the everybody votes channel and blast works' inbox (found in the editor). u dont need to check all of those; if one works, its likely they all do. if they dont, u might have a problem with your wii. these steps i mentioned all use wiiconnect24 so if u get an error code, u should call nintendo during their working hours.


 ive been doing some tinkering trying to figure out problem 3 and i think i got it. the enemys' positions are all based off of the grid in which you actually perform the editing. try this:


go into the editor and begin a new enemy and a new piece. jump to the front side view,  grab a circle and put it anywhere on the screen. exit that and make two more parts (i used triangles) in the right side view. bring the two parts to the left side of the circle on the layout tab so u can see them easier in the preview screen. go to the preview youll see each part. theyll probably be all whopperjawed but thats ok. exit that and select one of the parts u made and edit it. now go into the front view and pull it left or right. go back to preview and youll see that it was affected.


editing enemy ships seem to be backwards to me. the right view is the side youll see in game, but its actually the ships left side.


anywhoo, while editing, if you pull/push your shape to any side of the grid, it will affect its size and position. in front view, pull an item all the way to the right side of the grid. in preview, it should be extremely large. if you pull the item to the left side of the box, itll be the opposite. i tried pushing the itemes to the top left corner of the front view but it recenters it on the furthest back plane. this is helpful to know if you make an object too big or too small.


to align groups, i assume its the same thing. get each part aligned you want in group one and then group 2.


im sure theres sum1 out there who could help and divulge better than i can; i downloaded a map from here that has a boss with two layers that was done really well. ill shoot him an email on this site and see if he can come give us a hand

to extend a bit on question 3, im looking at yurgi (the boss of pond war) in the editor right now which has 3 seperate pieces, two of which i believe were combined. now how did the person who made this enemy align the legs and body? i know u can reposition pieces items one side, but i cant change views in the main layout screen to bring items that are further back towards the other parts.

NGE, im having the same problem. however, my wiiconnect24 is messed up on my wii and i think its the reason for mine screwing up. the weird thing is i can connect to the internet and send stuff to the Depot, but i cant recieve anything, check my inbox in blast works and on the wii, i cant send/recieve maps/pictures in ssbb, but i can still go online. you should check to see if yours is messed up like mine. see if you can add a FC in the wiis address book and can send messages to people. if u can, then thats not the prob.

I have some questions here id like to ask. if you know the answer to any of them, please help! ive been trying to get these answered all day yesterday...

1. is there any way to rotate items? i can rotate them clockwise/ccw, yes, but they only turn on the side in which i built them on. id like to know this in case i ever build an item on the wrong side and need to flip it w/o having to start over.

2. going along with the rotate question, can i rotate a group on items as if it were one piece? when i select several things and click rotate, they all turn individually.

3. when i make several seperate parts to an enemy, how do i line them up? for example, i want to make an airplane who's wings are seperate parts (ie they can get shot off and the plane will still be intact). i can make each part fine, but when i try to put them together, the pieces are all over the place.

4. i made a profile (apparently) but none of my items i sent get recorded as my own. i also cued some things for D/L. they show up here on the site but not in the game. do i need to list my accounts name that i here in the "author" section before sending it? *i figured out the d/l content part; my number on this site was wrong*
