Hi all... I was trying out a new scanner, and decided to preserve some sketches I'd done for a Xenophobe tribute level. I won't ever finish it, but *dang* if I didn't have lots of cool ideas for it! You can check out the scans on my Images page, and see if you can read my handwriting...

Some hand-scribbled notes on a Blast Works Xenophobe tribute I'll never finish. This one shows how the level would use a working elevator and have a different item to pick up on each floor.
I posted a photo once, but can't seem to figure out how to do it again. I'd like to post some scanned drawings of never-to-be-completed Blast Works levels... any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm very excited to see what you've added to the level, 5AKA. It's great to see people slowly adding to the level, as was meant to happen. This time it's a more open process; the last MegaLevel was an experiment, and those involved worked pretty closely together. Glad to see the project is still alive!

Amazing detail throughout for such a huge level... great job! I've only gotten to play through part of it, but it's very impressive. I love the huge numbered enemies...

Thanks. The writing was done with bullets. It's pretty simple (just time-consuming) to change the bullets' direction and make a bullet pattern that spells out words. The biggest trick is using the "Return" command to change direction instead of the slider, which never goes back exactly where you want...
At one point I switched my Wii from Progressive Scan mode to Standard mode, and Blast Works got REALLY noticeably fuzzy. Apparently it just looks like that sometimes...

Awesome level! You do such amazing things that it's sometimes hard to tell just how difficult it really is, or how creatively "out of the box" so many of your designs are. A robot with punching arms!?! Awesome!

Wow! That's some great sprite work throughout the whole level! I especially like the actual platforming parts with the guide arrows. My only problems are that it's hard to tell obstacles from the background sometimes, and some enemies and the boss seem to have too much HP. Excellent job on re-creating the look of an entire game so completely!

You can use any ship you like for the level; it's been tested with both the Campaign ship and JetBoy from the last MegaLevel, and I've beaten it with both ships on Pilot.

Haven't been around for a while... looks like I may have retired from active BlastWorking... Just letting people know that hansolo350 and I finished our contribution to the MegaLevel, and it can be found HERE: http://blastworksdepot.com/games/blastworks/9796
It would be great if anyone wants to keep the MegaLevel going! At the very least, I want people to see what hansolo350 and I came up with...
Thanks, guys. The biggest difference is just lack of sleep, but we're both completely fascinated by every little thing he does. Every sound, expression, burp, etc. And I'm pretty much over any aversion I ever had of touching poop. ;) As for posting on the depot... I tried, but couldn't get his picture into this post or as my avatar. It is, however, in my "images" folder.
Sorry. Tried to put in a picture here, but it doesn't seem to have worked... just checking in to explain my recent absence from the forums and all. My latest collaboration is in its "tuning" stages getting ready to come home from the hospital. My wife and I have worked on him for the last 9 months, and we call him Charlie. Born June 14th weighing 7 lbs 1 oz, and all of him awesome... thanks for reading...
Very good level! I'm not familiar with Rocket Knight, but the sprites are very well done, the level is fun to play, and the boss is huge and impressive. My favorite part is the enemy with the BIG beam weapon...

Backing up an enemy, partly because I'm so darn proud of the movement and the effect it creates. Doesn't show here, but the full Sonic Boom illusion is created with the "yin" and "yang" and sprite flicker of the Super Street Fighter II cabinet intact. The movement is called "180 mirror" and may end up being useful to someone down the line... Sprite by hansolo350!
