Quote "Gryzor": Now, there are plenty of editor features I wouldn't mind seeing in a sequel, though. :)
Amen to that... :)
As for the game features, it's not at all uncommon for things to change before a game is released, and for some planned features to never be realized. In this case, it does seem a bit more that we didn't get than seems usual... but ultimately, the main game in Blast Works isn't much more to me than a distraction and an obstacle to unlock some awesome Cho games... which isn't easy at all. :(
Go to the "views" tab in the bottom editor menu. There you can change the viewing angle of your shape in the editor, if you hadn't figured that out already. The default view is "right side," which is always the side you'll view the object in the game. Switch the view over to "front side," and you'll be able to move shapes left and right, which translates to being towards or away from you in the "right side" view. To make your shapes appear on top of others instead of blending together, simply move the ones you want on top "towards" you, and layer them in that way to make it appear how you like.
Hope that clears it up for you. Happy building! :)
I agree about the forum issues... Yesterday I couldn't even log in to my account, or reset my password, and after hours trying to get something to work, I found that the "contact us" support page (which has a "login and account issues" topic) wouldn't even work... >_>
So I tried it out, and lo and behold... it didn't work. =/I watched the vid more than once. I turned the water on. I even used the same level you made. The shapes you placed worked exactly as they did in the video, but I simply cannot move my shapes up into the foreground. I can move them back, of course... I tried moving the shape way over to the right in the shape editor as well, like you had mentioned, and that made no difference. My game automatically centers shapes I make in the grid when I save them anyways...This is honestly quite disappointing. :(
In response to Freeze up on
August 9, 2008 at 2:51pm
Just to add my name to the list... I've had freezing problems as well.I've only had the game for a few weeks now. It's frozen a number of times exactly how everyone else has described it. I haven't had any problems with any of my other Wii games yet.Unlike what others have said, it's not always in the same context that it happens for me. It seems to be all over the place, though almost always after clicking something that will load up a new screen. It's never really been more than a bit of an annoyance, because my work has been saved and as I said it usually happens when loading a new screen (as opposed to while editing something).Last night, however, something rather disappointing happened... I had been browsing the Depot here for a few days, and had amassed quite a long list of things (almost 40) I was excited to try out in my download queue. Last night when I finally got around to downloading them to my Wii, I watched as the files were recieved, one right after the other, and then at 37 items recieved-- *BLUURRRRRNN...* it froze up. I reset the game manually, and went to the editors to see what was there. It was exactly as it had been before I tried downloading that night, with nothing new at all. When I went to the download screen again to give it another try, it simply informed me that my queue was empty. :(
I'm glad that my data wasn't corrupted or anything, but it was still a bit frustrating lol.
Quote Budcat Creations: We just watched your segment, nicely done! We were unaware about the water effect enabling foreground scenery objects. I guess the glow looks a bit odd there too...In any case, it's a great way encourage people to start coming up with more original level designs. Awesome!
The glow does look a bit odd, but on the other hand, it helps the player not lose track of the ship. That's a fairly common technique in videogames. Marios Sunshine and Galaxy come to mind... :)
Looks like they deleted all other "Body Wars..." lol.
:O DECAGON??!?! ***AMAZING*** WORK!!
Bullet patterns are fun.Basically I've been making everything except levels. The levels will come though... in time. :)
Amen to that... :)

Howzabout a level editor tutorial? It's a lot of work to figure out every nuance of functionality through experimentation... lol.
Thanks a lot! This is really helpful. :)
