The only way it could be like a dream is to be that complex and multilayer. If anything, not complex enough. However, Inception really is a movie you need to see more than once to fully grasp it.
I am back with my annual film poll. If you haven't seen most of these, feel free to post your favorite film of the year. For me, Inception barely edges out The King's Speech.
You shut up soopah. This is an interesting topic. This topic won't be dead until 2012 is passed, so I suggest you get with the times.
@Robby - We've had earthquakes since the earth was 2 days old, and the earth has been changed many times because of these and other disasters. The quake in Chile was only .7 less than the largest quake in history, so these aren't just normal occurences.
Well, even though The Blind Side, An Education, and A Serious Man were nominated; that doesn't mean they're better than the 3 I had listed over them. In fact, it's a shame they have this new 10-film crap for the Oscars this year. 5 films is much better and exclusive. None of those 3 would have been nominated in the past. And yes Cel I am really praying that Hurt Locker wins Avatar; because if it doesn't, then the Academy will lose it's credibility again.
I will check it out eventually n8. I only post my opinion on this thread Johnny. This thread is about discussing movies of 09. I present my views about others' favorite films and they're free to do the same. A friendly argument never hurt anyone. ;)
Unlike most others, I didn't find The Hangover very funny at all. The situations were so ridiculous(e.g. the tiger) that it seemed to me just dumb rather than intelligent and funny. Most technical aspects were fine, but once again it was nothing special and does not deserve to be in this list.
Yes D.Maria! I'm glad someone mentioned Coraline. It's a very underrated film. I prefer it to Mr.Fox, but many others don't, so that's why I put the latter on over the former.
My point is: if you think all those movies you listed earlier are good, which in my opinion they're crap, then it's no wonder the Hangover is great. But if you compare it to the movies I have listed, it's no comparison. ;)
As crazy as this sounds, I agree with both cel and red's points about Star Trek. And your choice isn't lame at all Eben. Up is a much better film than celery and red's choices. :P
Ummm yes it was Red. Many critics gave it bad reviews because of it's darkish (some call hopeless) theme. Is that Chigurgh at my door? He's with his oscar! ;)
Yes I saw A Serious Man and it was okay. No where near the Coens' best. And you must not have seen WTWTA because it was pretty bleak, but still the best film.
Avatar is overrated. It has good fx and entertainment but beyond that it has no powerful moments, memorable characters, and the story has been seen too many times.
Trust me: my list was carefully compiled; at least 8 of these films will be up for Best Picture for the oscars. Yes it was a very good year for kid films. But if you look closely, these films(Up, WTWTA, Mr.Fox) are great for everyone and contain important and dark(ish) messages.
Here you can vote for the best movie of the year. If your movie is not listed here just post what you think was the best. I vote for Where the Wild Things Are.

The Blind Side:
Cinematography- Okay with no memorable shots
Story- the true story just masks the lacking script and dialogue by playing on the "rooting for" emotions.
Acting- Okay. Just cliched performances by Bullock and the other characters. Nothing special.
If you want to see a real sports film see Invictus. That's what I think.
