You dont need a headset. Just an internet connection and some sort of card to pay with. If you dont have a credit card you can buy a LIVE pack at the store. They cost $50, you get a whole year of LIVE and a headset.

It's actually really stupid considering that you are paying microsoft for nothing. They are the only system that charges you for getting online with their console. You not paying for their servers, etc... Your essentially paying to be advertised to (your 360 dash will look like a billboard!).

I was a fan of the first title, hated the 2 and 3rd one but picked up 4 last week because I liked the demo I played on LIVE.

I was into DMC4 until I got to level 4 then it all went downhill from there. So much frickin' slogging and grinding! God this game is boring. I've been in the same boring/lonely ice castle for what feels like 3 hours running around in circles. I cant believe people actually think this game is fun. It's a shame too because I think Nero is a really cool character. Japanese game devs are really starting to fall off big time. I had the same problems with No More Heroes. Crap gameplay/level design.

Come on guys, PSP isn't that bad, it actually has some really good games. Loco Roco rules, not to mention Patapon. Being able to play PS1 titles is nice to, but this is just my opinion.

For best I'm going with Dreamcast. The system was so cutting edge! The graphics were (still are) incredible, the controller/VMUs were brilliant, it was ONLINE(56k baby!) and it's game catalog isstunning.

For worst I'd have to say 32X. I had two games for that thing (Star Wars Arcade and Doom).

Sega CD was so much better. I forgot about the 32X CD.

Modern consoles should learn from Sega. To get the edge on the competition, invent a "half" console that snaps into the preexisting one rendering it EVEN MORE powerful! *cough* 360 HD-DVD Drive *cough*

As of now, all the best games are on Xbox 360. The amount of AAA titles on that system are staggering (Bioshock, Assasin's Creed, COD4, Devil May Cry 4, Soul Calibur 4, Mass Effect, the list goes on.)

As a PS3 owner I'd like to debunk the myth that the PS3 has good graphics. In actuality, the graphics (so far at least) are pretty weak. Case in point: All the games that I've played that are also on the 360 are blurrier than the XBOX 360 versions (Guitar Hero, Burnout Paradise, COD 4). It's almost like there is something wrong with the PS3's video output that puts this smokey blur on games. Also, ALL of PS3's flagship titles ONLY run in 720p which I find funny because Sony is always harping on about how important 1080p is.

I have them both and I must say that, as of now, you are going to get more bang for your buck with the 360. 2007 was VERY kind to it; there is already an amazing catalog of games available that you will love, BIOSHOCK being the crown jewel(imo). The only downside to getting one is that the hardware is absolute crap. Make sure you research which make is available at the store you plan on purchasing one at so that you can get one of the newer/better made ones.

Or,

You could get a PS3. Not too many killer apps yet, but it has a bright future ahead with great titles like MGS4 and Little Big Planet. If have a nice HD television I'd recommend it solely on the fact that it's a great blu ray player. Some of the PSN games are great too. Super Stardust HD is my favorite PS3 game and it's only $10!

You know what I'm just going to say it.

Racket and Clank is NOT that great.

Case in point: Every damn one is the SAME. Each R & C has the same huge city being destroyed, boring arena fights, crappy weapons, etc... The gameplay is far to light; none of the weapons/action have any impact. The character design is fugly at best. Why are all the characters smart-asses?

WheW! Just wanted to get that off my chest.

Long live SLY COOPER!

Some updates.

I don't have a Wii in my house as of now so I can't add anyone or trade miis. Just thought I'd put that out there because I always get a lot of people who send me requests that, unfortunately, I cant honor. One of the reasons I kinda disappeared for a long time was that I had a lot of people get mad at me because of that sort of thing. I most certainly don't want to let anyone down and I sures heck don't want to come off as a snob.

For all of those who hate on me for having a PS3, take this into consideration; I'll be designing my very own dream platformer on Little Big Planet while you guys are stuck playing some PS2 game with cobbled together motion controls.

This seems to be the process now in the industry. Design some crappy game on the PS2 (Boogie, Manhunt 2) throw it on the Wii first, then back onto the PS2.

I guess that time will tell which one is the true victor. I'm sure Nintendo will have already gone thru 2 more systems by the time PS3 is done.

"Why are these "niche" titles on a handheld geared towards hipster wannabes?"

What the hell does that mean? So wait a minute; you guys don't like Echochrome because it's too simple, it black & white,it should be on a cellphone, etc...Wait a second? haven't you Nintendo fanboys been brainwashed into think that "graphics dont matter"? What happened?

Also, let me clear this up; I never came onto this thread to try to "impress" people with that game, or the psp in general, for that matter. I personally thought the game looked cool, unique, and different, and I thought that MAYBE, just maybe there would be some other gamers on this forum that would be interested in it.

But yeah, anyways, Sony sucks, right? Forgive them for putting out these "niche" titles, that totally suck. Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Loco Roco those titles dont matter...Look at the reviews of those games. Nobody had anything good to say about them, right? And also forgive me for champion these lesser-known titles. I should just keep my mouth shut and play Animal Crossing. Does anyone want to trap lamps with me?

" if that lame, repetitive maze game gets you all excited...then uhhh...i can see now the type of ppl that support sony"

Oh, so I take it you are not a fan of the Nintendo's "Touch Generations" lineup then.

Also, how do you know that it's lame? Have you actually played it? Don't be so quick to judge something you know absolutely nothing about.

Nintendo are a bunch of stingy lil' misers. They love it when you loose stuff because then you have to re-buy it. I've lost of couple of DS games before due to their size, not to mention I lost my Wavebird receiver thingie during a move.

Fanboys are a corporations best friend. They should at least be nice enough to send you all Metroid themed wiimote straps.

The big chain stores stopped carrying DC stuff around 4 years ago (at least in my neck of the woods). You have to go to a indie game/ used cd store to find the games in Indianapolis. My girlfriend works at a really awesome place called Disc Replay and they carried all kinds of vintage game stuff, including just about every DC title ever made. They sell the actually system for $15. Can you believe that! The average price for DC game at this place is $7.

I'm not going out and spending money on a big SD card that will get lost easily(those things are so tiny!). The Wii should have been designed with a harddrive built in! The first Xbox had a HD and that thing came out how many years ago? Get with the times Nintendo. Jeez..

Dont forget all the 2D fighting bangers!

Third Strike
Marvel vs. Capcom
Mark of the Wolves
Last Blade

The list goes on...

Oh Dreamcast, how I love you so. Lets talk about the actual design of the system; Best looking console ever? I think so. It's so stout and chubby/cute. The love the awesome swirl logo, and the controller is still the best. And how about those VMU's!? A memory card that is also a portable gaming device? In 1999?

They were so ahead of the game it's not even funny.

Hey guys. Just wanted to stop in to say whats up. I also wanted to apologize to anyone who wanted me to add them in the last 2-3 months. I havent had my wii hooked up for a loooong time (havent been excited about any of the drought titles) so dont take it personal. I'm going to come clean about this; I'm lazy. Very lazy. Am I the only person who finds entering in these long friends codes to be a complete chore? I've got a lot of people that want me to add them, but it would seriously take me a good afternoon to enter everyones console #, send them the miis that they want, etc...I just dont have that energy. Oh yeah, and another thing; I'm really afraid that my Wii may be broken. My feline roommate kicked my Wii off my entertainment system and it hit the floor pretty hard. I'm now afraid to hook it up because I couldnt stand the pain of it actually being dead. I'm really hoping that Nintendo's craftsmanship comes through(I've seen a video of a Gamecube getting dragged by a car and chain and it still worked) because I'm considering doing new Mii work.

If my Wii is still alive, I'm going to apologize to it by crafting some awesome/hilarious characters in the Plaza so keep a look out. I've already got some really good ideas that like 5 of you guys born before 1991 will prolly love.

Man you really hate PSP! Do you work for Nintendo or something?

You could argue that the DS is a ripoff also. The hardware is dated and the games are grossly overpriced not to mention overrated. Brain Age? I've had more fun at the dentist. Don't even get me started on Animal Crossing. I'd rather watch paint dry.

I still play those emulators!

In regards to Shenmue and it's huge budget; go back and play it. The immersion and atmosphere in that title is phenomenal! So much tender love and care went into every nook and cranny of that game. No other game (in my opinion) has come close to capturing the gusto and liveliness of Shenmue.

On a side note, I heard that a lot of the titles budget was spent on the fully orchestral soundtrack.

Some of those Neo Geo games can be hefty. Metal Slug 3 pushed the MVS cart to the limit with it's insanely detailed/animated sprites.

I'm starting to wonder if these games will actually come out on the Wii. SNK may have a change of heart and focus more on putting the Neo Geo catalog out on Live Arcade. It'd be a whole easier for them since Live Arcade is set up perfect for those types of titles. I know Metal Slug 3 is coming out soon for Live Arcade. Hmm..

Not really sure if we need a child rapist/killer mii.

Peter Jackson frustrates me. He managed to make a movie about a giant gorilla that smashes up New York boring as hell. What was it like and hour and a half before you actually saw Kong? What a snooze fest. I will give him credit for LOTRs. I have a feeling that he is just fishing for another Oscar with this Lovely Bones. I hate it when popcorn directors try to become "artists". Peter needs to go back to his roots and make another gross-out zombie/alien movie.

I think they design these devices for use in shorter bursts. If you're going to be playing a game for longer than 2 hours at a time, chances are you aren't going to be far from an outlet so plug in. Dont get me wrong, low battery life sucks, but that's the only way they can makes these devices without loosing a bunch of money.

For me, this is the first game that I've played that actually merits the graphical upgrade of the true next gen consoles. The amazing ideas and concepts in Bioshock would not be possible on a low powered system. Graphics DO matter. This game proves that.
